Holt Session Starts!

The fall session at Holt Community Education is starting this week!!! There is a change to the location and time: it will be held Wednesdays at Washington Woods gym at 6:15. Register by the end of the first class and be entered in a drawing for a free Zumba tank (2 winners)! Hope to see you there!!!

Very excited about tomorrow's class. Just hope I'm fit enough to keep up with all the moves. :)

Zumba Basics

Ditch the workout, join the party!!!

Zumba is a latin/international dance based fitness program that emphasizes fun! You won't feel like it's a workout, but more like a party with friends. But don't get me wrong, you will sweat, and on average will burn 400-600 calories an hour. If you're really kickin' it up you can expect to burn around 1,000!

I have four rules in my class that give you an idea of what I like about Zumba:

1. Don't worry, be happy! Everyone has their own style and Zumba encourages that, so don't worry that you're not going to get the moves or that others are judging your abilities...Zumba is about feeling the music and doing what you feel is good for you. The moves are easy to modify to fit your needs.

2. Keep moving! If you're not moving you're really not having fun or getting a workout...so unless you are physically in need (please no fainting!) or have to get some water keep it going.

3. Respect and support each other! One of the best things about Zumba is the feeling of community. I encourage my students to get to know each other (and me!) and form bonds...after all, it's much more fun to party with friends than strangers! Being respectful to each other is key to the Zumba attitude...Peace, Love, Zumba!

4. Have fun!!! Bottom line. Wait this should be #1 right?

If you've never tried it, you're missing out! Invite your friends, wear comfortable clothing & shoes with very little tread (helps save your knees on those twisting moves!), and bring your party attitude! Hope to see you soon :)
